MARK FARINA BACK TO BACK @djmarkfarina
The legend himself returns to Crobar, this time blessing us with back to back sets. Friday night he’ll be throwing down the kind of high energy house/ disco/ funk set we’ve come to know and love from him. Mark is a Chicago house OG and one of the best in the business. He cut his teeth with Derrick Carter @blucu in Chicago in the late 80’s, and the two are still at the top of their craft, playing several legendary B2B sets this year including @movementdetroit. With strong local support from Neil Chastain @neilchastain + Sound On Tape @sound.on.tape, this one will be solid from start to finish.
Then Mark is right back at it with Saturday afternoon Mushroom Jazz brunch set. He created the genre of Mushroom Jazz in San Francisco, and it’s defined by a hip-hop sub-groove with jazzy, dubby elements in the downtempo range. It’s the perfect soundtrack for an outdoor afternoon brunch vibe with a dance floor, and we are very fortunate to have him stick around another day so we can experience both sides of the famed Farina coin. Also on the patio that day are a couple local favorites DJ Red-I @djredibeats + Justin Hartman @justin.hartman.79, who will likely be playing all vinyl, rare groove and downtempo gems.
